Obituary

Jim Wayne Bradeen, age 63, a lifelong resident of the Kettle Falls and Colville communities, passed away on July 9, 2023. Jimmy was born on June 15, 1960 in Colville, WA, the son of Frank J. and Carolyn F. (Peterson) Bradeen.

He was raised in the Kettle Falls area where he attended school locally and graduated in 1978 from Kettle Falls High School. He played football and basketball for the Bulldogs all four years and was voted hall of fame most athletic player his senior year. Following high school, Jimmy began working and soon began a 42-year career with Boise Cascade. He worked in a multitude of different roles throughout the years. Driving log truck and his work as a heavy equipment operator were his longest and most enjoyable roles. Jimmy married Dana Smith and together they began a family. He loved being a father and was actively involved in the lives of Nick and Scott. Jimmy and Dana would eventually divorce but his dedication and devotion never wavered with his children. He and Patricia McKinney would also share several years in marriage before they parted ways. Jimmy later moved to Colville and was introduced to Andrea Hall-Dotts. They exchanged vows in 2005 and joined families. Jimmy was excited to welcome Brock into his life and heart alongside his two sons. Their families have shared almost 18 years of countless family adventures, gatherings and events. Upon retirement from Boise, Jim began helping his son, Nick, with his business Bradeen Excavating.

Jimmy was proud of his children and loved to get together to eat, fish, hunt and just relax. He found joy in the fellowship of friends, family and food. Whenever possible, Jimmy was outdoors, scouting or in the hunt for game, searching for the next fishing hole or huckleberry patch or four wheeling in the mountains. In his earlier years, Jimmy competed in local boxing matches and played city league softball. He often played his good luck and winning hands in friendly games of cards and dice with family and friends and on occasion at the casino where he was usually quite lucky. He had a gift of genuine goodness, compassion, ingenuity, laughter and ability to invite and inspire happiness in others.

Jimmy was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Carolyn.

He is survived by his wife, Andrea Bradeen, children, Nicholas Bradeen (Crystal) of Kettle Falls, WA, Scott Bradeen (Miranda) of Spokane, WA, step-son Brock Dotts (Amanda) of Post Falls, ID and honorary daughter, Geena Ruggeri; brothers Tim Bradeen (Carol) of Colville, WA, Dan Bradeen (Monica) of Kettle Falls, WA; sisters, Sherri Dotts (Harry) Colville, WA, Terri Danielson, Cheney, WA; eight grandchildren, Aycee, Breezy, Neeko, Tovee, Zeek, Henry, Dromi and Maverick; Stepfather, Howard Goede, Stepmother, Arlene Bradeen; nephews, Phil, Ryan, Jacobi, Cody and Jori; nieces, Delrae and Brittany as well as a host of extended family and very close friends.
