Jeannine Anna McCombs

Jeannine Anna Egland McCombs passed away on her birthday April 30, 2023. She was 94 years old, having been born at the home of her parents, Ervin Egland and Mae Schmid in Summit Valley, WA on April 30, 1929. Her husband, Neldon Peter (Pete) McCombs, preceded her in death in 2002.

She is survived by one brother, Wallace Egland, and a numerous posterity including her 7 children, Barry McCombs, Kathryn Gerlach Webber , Danny Hayes, Jill Divis, Adam McCombs, Heather Ekins and Tamara Rose; 34 grandchildren and 83 great grandchildren.

Adored by her family and beloved by all who knew her, she was known for her kindness, unselfishness and unassuming ways. She was seldom alone because her grandchildren and great grandchildren took every opportunity to be with her, bask in her attention, listen to her stories and share the delights of her kitchen. She delighted in every single member of her family. She taught them to love each other deeply and to take care of each other always. Her home was also open to many friends of all ages who knew they would be kindly received and find a warm welcome and a listening ear. As they were growing up, on many occasions, her children found themselves sharing their home with individuals and sometimes even whole families who were in need of a temporary place to stay.

Blessed with good health during her long life, she was a physically active person and always up for a hike or swim. A lover of nature, faith and belief came naturally to her. She taught her children to trust in divine providence and to exercise Christian virtues through her own examples of charity and faithfulness.
