Obituary

Janice Annette LeCaire, age 83, a longtime resident of Northport, WA passed away on Nov 10, 2021 in Colville, WA.  Janice was born on May 18, 1938 in Colville, WA the daughter of Leonard "Slim" Storer Sr. and Vera (Ward) Storer.

Janice was raised and attended school in Kettle Falls and assisted with the needs of the family farm.  In 1956, Janice graduated from Kettle Falls High School as a twelve year senior.  She had met a young man by the name of George LeCaire at a community dance while attended high school and stayed in contact with him while he was enlisted and serving in the U.S. Military.  Upon his return and her graduation, the two exchanged vows on June 30 th , 1956 at the Kettle Falls Catholic Church and began life together in Northport, WA..  Soon their family began to grow.  Janice cleaned homes for the elderly and took on many odd jobs to help support the family.  As her children became capable, they assisted in the yard care and snow removal branch of her support for those in need.  Janice also worked as a clerk at the Kendrick Mercantile in Northport for several years.  She retired  after working many years as the Northport assistant Post Master in Northport, WA

In order to support her large family, Janice grew an amazing garden.  She canned the harvest for the yearly needs while they enjoyed  the fresh fruits and vegetables in the fall. Janice had old fashioned values and worked tirelessly to meet the needs of her home and family.  Many hours were spent with a gunny sack load of laundry, a wringer washer, and line drying  as well as the 5 o'clock dinners and well-kept home,  all to benefit her family.  Janice would sew on her Treadle sewing machine for hours, making family clothes as well as teaching the young ladies of the neighborhood how to sew for their families.  She ran a tight ship and was a firm disciplinarian, leaving little room for wayward behavior.  She did all of this with a mother's love and when a moment was left open, Janice read avidly.  She enjoyed westerns, romance and local authors, often reading multiple books simultaneously.  She was selfless with a stern hand, strong and loyal, fair and honest and brought with her a beautiful smile and the time to stop and say hello whenever possible.

Janice was preceded in death by her husband, George in 1999 and siblings, Delia Nehl, Emma Lotze, Patti Ferguson, Vicki Ferguson and Eddie Storer.  She is survived by her 5 children, Teresa Wilson of Northport, WA, Terry LeCaire (Kelly)of Colville, WA, Debi Tusken (Tony) of Colville, WA, David LeCaire (Susan) of Nort hport, WA, Gary LeCaire (Rochelle) of Kettle Falls, WA; 12 grandchildren; numerous great grandchildren; one sister, Carolyn Porter of Wenatchee, WA and brother, Jim Storer of Kettle Falls, WA.                                                                                                                  She will be laid to rest with her husband George LeCaire at the Forest Home Cemetery in Northport, WA.
