Obituary

Janelle Diane Sackman (Meshishnek) was born on November 30, 1974 in Colville, WA to Damond and Marie (Olmstead) Meshishnek. She graduated from Colville High School in 1993. On April 15th, 2000, she married her high school sweetheart, Brian Sackman. Together, they had one daughter, Brooke, and countless pets, both domesticated and not. Janelle passed away on February 17, 2024 at her home, doing what she loved, with her beloved dog Red by her side. Janelle and Brian lived life to the fullest, and were always together. Brian was her partner in life, her best friend, and she loved him more than she could often express.

Janelle was best known for her laugh, it was both loud and infectious. She had endless devotion to her animals, and each one had its own name and backstory. She was picky, obsessive, and had a heart of gold. Her home was always spotless, her water was always bottled, and her family, friends, and neighbors were always taken care of. Janelle was famous for her over-the-top Christmases, and the "crap boxes" that came with. You'd never leave empty handed when she was cooking. She could never get her lemon souffles to rise, thus dubbing them lemon soup-le's. She loved her property, the one she shared with her husband. She meticulously designed every inch of her home, and made some questionable décor choices along the way. It was her sanctuary, and her happy place. She spent her days riding her four-wheeler on the trails, and chopping down trees with a sawzall. One of her favorite pastimes was walking her dog, and squishing his cheekies. She spoiled her animals in love and homemade meals. Janelle enjoyed reading especially Danielle Steel and John Grisham, and staying in touch with family and friends through Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat. Her "no filter" and straight-to-the-point approach left no mystery, "you always knew where you stood". Janelle offered the same approach with her compassion, her generosity and her love… she was all in.

Janelle is survived by her husband, Brian Sackman, of Chattaroy; daughter Brooke Sackman (Tony) of Spokane; father and mother Damond Meshishnek and Marie (Olmstead) Meshishnek of Colville; sister Debbie Engebretsen (Dan) of Elkridge; brother Bob Meshishnek (Tammy) of Colville; sister Lori Coffell (Randy) of Omak; dog Red Marble of Chattaroy; cat Henry of Chattaroy; grouse Henrietta of Chattaroy; rabbit Hassenpfeffer of Chattaroy; and countless nieces, nephews, deer, friends and family.

Janelle was preceded in death by her grandmother Jessie; grandfather Jim; grandmother Mabel; dogs Jackie, Bella, Cooper, and Jake; and pet deer Spud.
