In Loving Memory
James Otto Weitensteiner
James Otto Weitensteiner passed away March 31, 2024, in Valley, Washington. He was born October 21, 1948, in Chewelah Washington. To the late Otto Weitensteiner and Zella (Oliver).
As we reflect on your life, we cannot help but smile at all the incredible moments we shared with you. From your passion for marksmanship, to your love for fishing, you truly lived life on your own terms. Your marksmanship skills were legendary, and we will never forget the times you told us stories about how everyone else was holding the rifle wrong, or how the scope was not cited correctly, even threw the sometimes-unwanted criticism, we always took your advice seriously because we knew that throughout your lectures, you knew what you were talking about.
Although it was not just your love for marksmanship that made you special, you had a knack for making everyone around you laugh even if it meant offending them a little. Your jokes were legendary, especially the problem-solving sheet you had on your fridge, and no Holiday was ever complete without your witty remarks. You managed to offend a lot of people, but you were still everyone's favorite person. And who could forget your stories of the military? Or your travels in Germany that you were so fond of. Jim, you truly lived your life the way you wanted to, with passion and laughter. You reminded all of us to embrace our passions, to never take life too seriously, and to find joy in trivial things. As we reminisce about the times we spent together, we cannot help but feel a mix of emotions-sadness for your absence, but your spirit lives on through the stories we tell and the lessons you taught us.
James was predeceased by his parents and one stepsister, Maureen Geer. James is survived by his son, Rob Weitensteiner and his spouse Karri Mitchell, One sister Karen Kirishian, A stepsister Roberta Birk, Four grandchildren Kadence and Aimee Weitensteiner and Amara and Karina Mitchell, and two great grandchildren Erik and Emmerson.
Thank you, Jim, for being the incredible person that you were. We all miss you dearly, but we find solace in knowing that you are at peace. With Love, Your Family
