In Loving Memory of

James A. Looney

Our friend James A. Looney went to the great gig in the sky on November 19th, 2025.  James was a musician first & foremost, it was his reason for living. Folks will remember his very own style of jazzy blues, hearing him at barter fairs, garlic festivals, birthdays, weddings, and various other events. He brought his music into the classroom for many years at his local community school, as well as many many years of playing live at the Onion Creek General Store.
At the age of 25 James joined the United States Navy and proudly served 4 years aboard the USS Enterprise. Although he never saw combat, he still had plenty of great stories from his time during active duty. Shortly after his time aboard the vessel he moved to Onion Creek where we all met him and he worked for the United States Forest Service just as proudly as he had for the Navy.
James wasn't a complicated person. He was a friend to everyone he met. If you had a need and he had a hand, it was yours to use. He didn't ask for anything more in return, other than just the same. We will all miss him greatly.
For all who know, knew and remember him, please consider a financial gift to assist us in getting him to his final requested resting place. In his own words, "When I die, roll me up and smoke me." A GoFundMe account has been set up for his cremation expenses. Donations can also be given directly to Danekas Funeral Chapel in his name.  An outdoor celebration of life event is being planned for early Spring. That's where he thrived, outdoors playing music.
