Jim was raised in Spokane where he attended North Central High School graduating in 1953. After graduation he entered the U.S. Army and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged and returned to Northeast Washington where he joined his family. Working alongside his father as a well driller he eventually ventured out on his own and later worked for Fogel drilling and pump. Jim Noonan and Carol Bennett exchanged vows in the '60's and resided in Chewelah where they raised their two children, Mike and Lisa. Jim and Carol eventually parted ways and after some time Jim got married again to Jan Boyer. Jim liked the outdoors enjoying running, biking, and swimming in the summer and skiing and snowshoeing in the winter. Being an avid runner he trained for triathlons, biathlons, and marathons. In his early years, Jim raced dirt bikes which led to his love of Harley-Davidson gear and road bikes. Jim had a genius level I.Q. and was always nourishing his mind through reading and writing. He had a great sense of humor which was often expressed in conversation and writing including his small notes to family and "Jim's Bit" in the Sasquatch publication.
