In Loving Memory of James “Jim” Buck

James “Pastor Jim” Buck was born on January 23, 1947, to Albert and May Buck in Little Rock, Arkansas. He grew up as a true country boy, living in a home without electricity alongside his four siblings. When his family packed their five children into the back of a pickup and moved to Glendale, Oregon, they began a new chapter together. There, Jim’s father worked in the mills, and in time, Jim followed in his footsteps, learning the value of hard work, perseverance, and providing for others.

In 1975, Jim married the love of his life, Ronnelle Crist “Ronnie.” Their marriage was built upon a deep and enduring love for Christ, for one another, and for the people around them. Together, they moved to Stevens County, Washington, where they became community leaders and Jim, A pastor of the Marble Community. later, Jim helped establish the Crisis Pregnancy Center in Colville. His faith was not simply something he spoke about—it was something he lived through his willingness to serve, encourage, and help others. Jim’s Motto was LOVE THY NEIGHBOR AS THYSELF.

In 2024, Jim moved to Hawaii under the care of his Daughter Shawna (William) Neves, where Jim quickly became a beloved part of the community. He dedicated himself to helping those who needed a second chance, starting a home for pregnant women and another home for men who had nowhere to go after being released from prison. Jim spent much of his life trying to make right where he had once gone wrong. He understood the power of grace, forgiveness, and a new beginning, and he freely offered those gifts to others. His generosity knew few limits, and he gave freely of both his time and his heart.

Jim was also a master at making cakes. He made wedding cakes for countless couples, always for free. His cakes were more than beautiful creations—they were another way he showed people that they mattered and that their special moments were worth celebrating. He loved picking avocados in Hawaii, baking, helping others, and simply being there when someone needed him.

Jim is survived by his 3 children: Tracy Buck (Greg), Shane (Amy) Buck, Shawna (William) Neves. Grand Children; Brilee, Preslee (Buck), Jonathan, Vanessa, Brandon, Joshua, Violet (Johnston), and Joel (Neves); his sister Pat King, and his brother Gary (Shannon), Buck. He will be remembered by his family, friends, and countless people whose lives he touched through his kindness, faith, generosity, and willingness to give others a second chance.

Above all, Jim loved Ronnie and deeply missed his beloved wife. Their lives were forever united by their love for Christ, for one another, and for others. Jim leaves behind a legacy of faith, compassion, service, and love. Now, Jim and Ronnie are together again, reunited with their dear friends Sam and Angie Davis, and other loved ones, continuing the long and lasting friendships that meant so much to them.
