In Loving Memory

Irene Margaret Enquist

On August 26, 2024, Irene passed away in Colville, surrounded by her attentive, caring, and loving family. In two weeks, she would have been 93 years old.

Irene Margaret Chapman was born to Burt Chapman & Anna Forester-Chapman on September 8, 1931, at their home in Colville, Washington. She attended a country school on the Orin-Rice Road. Later, she attended school at Colville Junior High School, graduating on May 28, 1948. Irene was the oldest of seven children: Tuney, Sylvia, William, Sarah, Anna, and Louise. On March 20, 1952, she married Robert Enquist in Colville after meeting him at Old King Cole's. Together, they raised five children: Margaret, Sarah, George, Leah, and David. They lived in surrounding areas including Northport, Republic, Hunters, Cedonia, Summit Valley, and Clarkston, Washington.

In 1974, Robert, Irene, and two children moved to Moses Lake,WA where Irene worked in vegetable processing factories.

After she retired at the age of 65, in 1996, Irene moved to Kettle Falls so she could be close to her brothers, sisters, and children. In 2000 she joined the local Seventh-day Adventist Church. She enjoyed camping, horseback riding, fishing, and growing flowers in her early years. During her 28 years of retirement, Irene enjoyed visiting family, going to reunions, and helping with the grandchildren. One of her favorite places was the Colville Senior Center HUB where she enjoyed many delightful meals, chatting with friends, and playing Bingo. Irene hardly ever missed church where she sat in the same pew with her other 90-year-old friends. Usually cheerful, everyone enjoyed her happy disposition and fun laughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, and son, David Loren Enquist. She outlived two younger brothers and three sisters.

Irene was looking forward to the Blessed Hope of meeting Jesus when He comes.
