Obituary

Inis Mae Stanard, a longtime resident of the Colville, WA and Kettle Falls, WA communities, passed away on May 31, 2022 in Deer Park, WA. Inis was born on December 9, 1930 in Bisbee, AZ, the daughter of Cable and Grace (Barrow) Harding.

As a young girl, their family moved to Carnation, WA where s he began school. A few years later, they moved to N.E. Washington and purchased a ranch jus t outside of Colville. She attended school in Colville and graduated in 1948 from Colville High School. Following high school, Inis began work as a dental assistant for Dr. Robert Hardwick. While walking past the gas station one day with her sister, Inis saw Robert Stanard and said to her twin sister Iris,

"Someday I'm going to marry that blond haired boy." They began a short courtship and were wed on May 14, 1950 in Colville. They were married for 53 years. Inis worked at the ASCS office until she became a mom. She then focused her needs on her growing family and assisted in the operation of their orchard near Kettle Falls. Inis volunteered as the Secretary for Fire District 6 and as a secretary for Catholic Charities. Bob preceded her in death on January 9, 2003. She remained on the orchard and enjoyed her independence. Inis would eventually move into Buena Vista Assisted Living in Colville where she enjoyed the company and care provided. Once her health required 24-hoursupport, she was given all that she needed, lovingly in the home and care of her son Paul and his wife Hope in Deer Park, WA.

Inis enjoyed socializing with family and friends. She cherished the many hours of conversation and competition over a game of pinocle. She volunteered for many local organizations and offered of her time generously. Harvest season was her favorite time on the orchard as she shared in coffee and cobbler with many of their regular patrons. Inis embraced her role as a mom and loved her children and was always available for advice and love. She was a wonderful grandmother and loved to give her time whenever needed to those she loved.

Inis was also a longtime member of the Eagles Lodge in Colville.

She was preceded in death by her two husbands, Robert Stanard and Willi Lee; one daughter, Diane Marie Robinson in 1999; her 12 siblings, Horace, Elmer, Bud, Jack, Pat, Richard, Isabella, Pearl, Iris  Fae, Peggy and Velva Jean..

Inis is survived by her children, R. Paul Stanard (Hope) of Deer Park, WA, Alan Stanard (Melissa) of Kettle Falls, Denise Jausoro (Lou) of Walla Walla, WA; 9 grandchildren, Alan, Taylor, Lindsey, Josie, Jenna, Brandon, Louie, Kysa and Mariah and 8 great grandchildren, Annabelle, Sonja, Jack, Gabby, Harrison, Zoey, Danny and Regan.

A family gathering will be held in honor of Mrs. Inis Mae Stanard.   She will be laid to rest with her husband, Robert, at the Meyers Falls Cemetery in Kettle Falls, WA.
