Obituary

Ida Louise Corbell, a long-time resident of Skagit County and a recent 2-year resident of Colville, WA passed away on Aug. 18, 2022, at the age of 68. Ida was born on May 26, 1954 in Mt. Vernon, WA, the daughter of Kenneth Schlafer and Vera Gindron.

Ida was raised on Samish Island where her love for the summers, sunshine and sand castles on the beach were deeply rooted within her heart from her earliest memories. After graduating from Burlington-Edison High School in 1972, she moved to Giessen, Germany and began a family with the birth of her first daughter, Melanie. Soon however, Ida was back in Skagit County where her second daughter, Jamie and son, Kelsey was born. She stayed at home until her children were all well established.

Ida was a social butterfly, had a love for her community and always felt the need to serve. She worked at Horen's Pharmacy for a short time and Walmart Pharmacy for over 20 years, where she developed life-long friendships, or her "work family" as she would call it. She took such pride in being the "Mother Hen" of the Pharmacy, and had such empathy, care and concern for her patients and co-workers.

In 2020 she moved to Colville with the love of her life, Eddie Hoyt to experience a slower pace of life and some new scenery. Over the last two years they created the perfect forever home and built several new friendships. Ida's free spirit was love in motion with a spit-fire twist; she had a spunk, a zest and a creative heart that touched every corner of her home and anyone she greeted.

Ida had a love for all the seasons and decorated accordingly. Every holiday her home was adorned to welcome and compliment the season and celebration. Christmas was the pinnacle with hundreds of ornately decorated Christmas cookies made to share, multiple Christmas Trees perfectly crafted from Teddy Bears to Victorian themes and Elvis Christmas songs playing in the background. Summer time was next in line, where she had an outdoor kitchen, a bar for all to join and a garden that only a "seasoned green thumb," could maintain. Being outdoors was her thing, so if she wasn't at home hosting, she was out on the boat crabbing, riding horses, antiquing or playing with her Grandchildren whom she adored.

Ida was preceded in death by her brother, Dale Yenter and sister, Janet Jackson and both of her parents. She is survived by her love and longtime friend, Eddie Hoyt of Colville, WA; daughters Melanie Lewis (Jeff Richter) of Sedro-Woolley, WA, Jamie Barnum of Puyallup, WA; sons, Kelsey Corbell (Jennifer);son, of Gig

Harbor, WA, Jake Hoyt (Michelle Stacey) of Colville, WA; grandchildren, Kristopher Barnum, Carson Barnum, Emmett Corbell, Hailey Hoyt and Isic Hoyt; a host of extended friends and family.

Ida was loved and adored by so many. As much as we miss her, we have comfort in knowing she is safe and secure with her Savior. We love you and you will shine forever in our hearts until we meet again!
