Gregory "Greg"
Floyd Pitts
Apr 21, 1957 — Nov 28, 2022
Post Falls
Gregory "Greg" Floyd Pitts, age 65, a resident of Post Falls, ID and past resident of the Kettle Falls and Colville, WA communities, passed away on November 28, 2022 in Coeur d'Alene, ID. Greg was born on April 21, 1957, in Colville, WA, the son of Floyd Dwayne and Betty Lou (Cole) Pitts.
Greg was raised in the Colville area where he attended school and graduated in 1975 from Colville High School as a 12-year senior. He excelled as an athlete in school and was a four-letter recipient. Greg also was an accomplished swimmer and swam on the Colville swim team for many years. He continued swimming and competing on a collegiate level after high school. Greg began his college education at Eastern Washington University. Greg also worked for a time with his father at Arden Tree Farms. After that, he assumed ownership of Colville Supply, a candy and tobacco delivery company, which he owned and operated for several years. Self-employment and business ownership were a measure of great pride for Greg. He returned to college and earned a bachelor's degree in education. Greg's first teaching job was in Umatilla, OR and their middle school, followed by a permanent classroom assignment in Keller, WA. He later came back to the Colville area where he worked for many years as a substitute teacher throughout the Steven's County area. Greg taught for two years in Inchelium, WA, beginning in 2019. He then moved to Post Falls, ID where he could be closer to his kids and continued his work in public education with the Post Falls School District.
He had a passion for golf and loved getting an early start on the day at the golf course. He especially enjoyed his time while in Post Falls, ID where the golf course was only a couple blocks from his home. In the quiet times, he read stories to his children and enjoyed American Literature in his own leisure. Greg was a loving son, father and grandfather. He had a generosity that inspired him to give without regard for himself. Greg's heart led with sympathy and he felt the lows, highs and all spaces in between as he supported those he loved. He carried his heart on his sleeve and shared his tears and emotions freely. Reliable, vulnerable, authentic, and endearing are qualities of his character. Greg gave of his time, affirmations and works of service as love languages. His ability to relate to all ages, especially children, made him great at his work and with his family.
Greg was preceded in death by his sister, Anita Nicholas; nephew, Tony Nicholas, and parents, Floyd and Betty Pitts.
He is survived by his son, Jarrod Pitts (Kristin) of Coeur d'Alene, ID; daughters, Jessica Williams of Spokane, WA and Carley Pitts of Boise, ID; grandchildren, Eden, Chloe and Sawyer; sister, Debra Hunter of Spokane, WA; brother, Jeff Pitts (Michel) of Colville, WA; several nieces and nephews.
