Gloria “Jean” Henderson
Gloria “Jean” Henderson, age 91, a 70-year resident of Colville, WA passed away on Sept. 16, 2026 at Providence Mount Carmel Hospital in Colville, WA. Jean was born on December 1, 1934 in Colville, the daughter of Russell Benjamin and Senora Elvira (Slagle) Hallett.
She was raised in the Kettle Falls, WA area where she attended school and graduated in 1953 as a 12-year senior from Kettle Falls High School. She worked throughout high school at Singer Junction and was active in school programs as a cheerleader and saxophone player for the band. Following high school, she began working as a teller at Seafirst Bank in Colville. This began a 40-year career with Seafirst Bank and it’s a successor, Bank of American. Jean served a myriad of roles including teller, load officer, management and personal banker. She retired in the late 1980’s and devoted her retirement to her grandchildren.
At the age of 18, Jean met Robert Henry Henderson at a Grange dance. They were later married and the Hitchin Post in Coeur d’Alene, ID on June 26, 1955. They purchased a house in 1958 on Elep in Colville and have resided in the home for 68 years. She was a working mom, and they shared vacation time at her parent’s ranch in the Ricky Canyon near Kettle Falls and many trips to Bradbury Beach. Jean retired in the late 1980’s and then devoted much of her time to her grandchildren. She also began sewing and quilting in her retirement.
She had a great love for her family. Jean devoted her life to providing for them and ensuring needs were always met. She was loyal and hard working to her family and all of the customers she considered dear friends after four decades with the bank.
Jean is preceded in death by her parents Russell and Senora Hallett parents; brother Allan Hallet and his wife Rita.
She is survived by her husband of 73 years, Robert Henderson; two children, Brian Henderson (Lisa Meddock) of Kettle Falls, WA, Kristine “Kristi” VanWaveren (Dan) of Spokane, WA; grandchildren, Jackson VanWaveren, Ashely Boardman (Mike), Terri Hagen, Brianne Zier, and Tyler Henderson; great grandchildren, Ashton and Micah Boardman, Grace and Martin Orford and Bo Hagen; brother, Gary Hallett (Bonnie) of Tri-cities, WA.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 9, 2026 at Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA where she will be laid to rest in a niche placement. Memorial contributions may be given to the charity of your choice.
