In Loving Memory

Glenn Patrick Merchant

Glenn Patrick Merchant, age 73, passed away unexpectedly at his Northport home, with his loving husband, Rick, by his side. Glenn was born on October 27, 1949 to George and Bonnie (Carter) Merchant III in Denver, Colorado.

Early in his childhood, Glenn and his family would relocate to Kansas for a period of time before returning to Colorado, where he would finish his education. Shortly after reaching adulthood, Glenn would make the selfless decision to enlist in the U.S. Navy. While in the navy, Glenn would obtain his bachelor's degree, and upon his return to civilian life after six years of service, Glenn relocated to Seattle, working as a nuclear engineer at the Puget Sound Naval Shipyard.

In 1993, Glenn would meet his soulmate, Ricky "Rick" Scoles, at an Arboretum in the Seattle area, and the two would soon begin a life together in Bremerton. The pair spent several years together running their antiques business, frequenting auctions and estate sales throughout Western Washington to add to their collection. In 2008, becoming more aware of the ever-growing population, Glenn and Rick made the decision to relocate to Northport. Here, Glenn was able to maintain a garden full of beautiful flowers, as well as a small vineyard on the pair's acreage.

In November 2013, Glenn and Rick would be wed, and the continued to enjoy their peaceful retreat in the mountains above Northport. In his free time, Glenn was an avid artist, working with stained glass and painting. He and Rick were also able to enjoy the bounty of their vineyard on several occasions throughout the years.

Glenn was preceded in death by his parents, George Harry and Bonnie Merchant III.

He is survived by his husband, Ricky "Rick" Scoles at the home, as well as his brothers, George (Carol) Merchant of Evergreen, CO, and Mike Merchant of South Dakota.
