In Loving Memory of
Gerald LaVern Lohman
08/05/1950 – 11/02/2024
Gerry was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico to Winnifred and LaVern Lohman. Gerry spent most of his growing years in Clarkston, WA., where he graduated from High School. Gerry enrolled in college, but the call of rodeo won out. Gerry rode bareback and rodeoed for several years, giving him many injuries, but even more memories. He had a gift and used his gift for as long as he could. Most of his best buds were cowboys and his best stories were about rodeo's. During his rodeo years Gerry drove oil truck and worked construction. After he quit competing in rodeo, he was a judge for several years.
Gerry was a cowboy, a real cowboy. He was a hard worker, strong in every sense of the word, good on his word and thoroughly believed what you accomplished was better defined by appreciating what you have and doing right by it, all of it. Gerry told a good story, and boy did he have some good stories. He enjoyed having a good time after a hard day's work.
He met his wife Julie in the late seventies while he was rodeoing, and she was helping develop rodeo pictures for the Spokane Community College rodeo team. Their paths crossed again in 1986, and from then on out, he was Julie's Cowboy. They married in October, 1988. They had 3 children. Gerry and Julie were mates, companions, and life partners.
Gerry, known as Papa to his kids, taught them hard work, keeping to your word, doing the job right and listening to their Mom (or what not to tell Mom!). Gerry's life was Julie, his kids, his family and friends, and their small ranch. He took immense pride in keeping his home and land looking at its best, often you could see him outside working no matter the weather or time. He never took any of his life for granted. He loved and protected his family always and did a damn good job.
Gerry was a good man-an honest man, a papa beyond measure, who will be missed beyond words by those who loved and knew him.
Gerry is survived by his wife Julie at the ranch, daughter Kayla (John) granddaughter Poppy Torres, son Will (Jessie) Lohman and daughter Emilee Lohman. Sisters Kelly (Jon) Kelly, Debbie (Ken) Hart, numerous nieces and nephews.
Gerry's service will be private to family. If you would like to donate in his name and honor please consider these two: Multiple System Atrophy Foundation(s) or Melody Riders Saddle Club, 3235 Flyckt Road, Chewelah, Wa 99109
