Frank James
Lehrman
Feb 20, 1929 — Jul 11, 2022
Spokane
Frank James Lehrman was born on February 20 th 1929 in Colville WA. He was the only child of Frank and Dona Lehrman of Chewelah WA.
Frank Jr. graduated Jenkins High School in 1947. During his high school years, he worked for the Lehrman Garage, and was an active Eagle Scout. Also in this time, he met the love of his life Dolores Marie Ackerman. On that day, he said that he had met the most beautiful girl he had ever seen. On May 8, 1948, with their best friends Bonnie and Wes Carlson by their sides, they were married. For the next 71 years, they were inseparable. They built a home in Chewelah, welcomed their two sons Norm and Ron and put their teaching degrees to good use in both Wellpinit and Chewelah schools.
How do you sum up a life well lived like his? What truly filled his days was a love for his wife, his family, the outdoors, animals, travel and an everlasting faith. He was an inspirational father, friend and grandad. He never met a dog he didn't pet, never went to a garage sale where he didn't buy something, never missed a ski season at 49 Degrees North and never let the opportunity of glassy water go without a skier. He always took advantage of the seasons to forage for morels or huckleberries or have a bon fire in the woods. Frank was at the forefront of new sports such as scuba diving, jet skiing, water skiing, snowmobiling and 4 wheeling. He was famous for his art work having carved faces on stumps all over the north west, including the famous bell on 49 degrees north ski hill. His row of faces fencing around the Loon Lake cabin were featured in Sunset magazine.
Frank and Dolores's travels took them all over the world. They were some of the first American's allowed into China, spent 20 years as snowbirds to Arizona, they went on numerous cruises and Hawaiian and Mexican vacations. So many trips with family and dear friends that filled their lives with adventure. Frank had a tremendous love for "this ol' world", but he had an even greater love for what is to come. He was a pillar in their faith, supporting in any way he could.
Frank is survived by his sons, Norm Lehrman (Cookie) and Ron Lehrman (Janet); grandchildren, Natalie Meyring (Weston), Alyssa Gonzales, Amber Sorenson (Eric), Crystal Ayton (Derek), Chris Lehrman (Ryan), Bryan Lehrman (Holly) and Shelley Lehrman; great grandchildren, Angelina Brady (Cody), Cassie Sorenson, Hannah, Caleb and Sarah Gonzales, Cody and Dusty Ayton, Corbin and Sadie Meyring, Wade Lehrman and Tenney Lehrman and newly welcomed great-great-granddaughter, Meadow Rue Brady. In addition to these, countless more called him Papa that he welcomed with an open heart.
Frank was preceded in death by his wife Dolores Marie who passed March 30 th 2020.
Due to the pandemic, a public service could not be held for Dolores, so a combined services and luncheon for both Frank and Dolores will begin at 10:00 a.m., Monday, July 25, 2022 Chewelah Gess Elementary School. Frank will be laid to rest beside Dolores at the Pioneer Cemetery in Chewelah, WA.
