Elias F. Palomino

July 28, 1941-February 28, 2024

Elias F. Palomino, formerly of Carlsbad, New Mexico, passed away in Colville, Washington on February 28, 2024, at the age of 82.

Elias was born in Malaga, New Mexico on July 28, 1941 to Manuel and Manuela (Fuentez) Palomino.  He grew up in Loving, New Mexico. He attended Loving Elementary, and Loving Junior high schools.  Elias graduated from Carlsbad Senior High school in 1960.

Elias joined the Navy, and was stationed on board the USS HIGBEE (DD 806) from 1964-1966. He was honorably discharged, and returned stateside.

He would marry Margarita (Mendez) Palomino on November 1966, in Delano, California. They would have one son, Antonio, in September 1967, and one daughter, Raquel in August 1969.

Elias worked at various places, but in 1985 he began working at NMSU Carlsbad where he would work for the next twenty-four years. He retired in 2009.

In November 2016 he moved to Sandpoint Idaho/Colville Washington to live with his daughter. He got to experience lots of snow.

Elias was preceded in death by his wife Margie, his parents, brothers Benjamin and Santiago, sisters Estella, Elva and Esther.

Elias leaves behind one son, Antonio Palomino, from Aberdeen WA, and one daughter Raquel Palomino Barrett and husband Patrick Barrett, from Colville WA, One grandson Alexander Barrett. One brother Robert Palomino (Olga) from Loving NM, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

Cremation has taken place no service at this time.
