ELAINE MARYLOU ELLIOTT

Elaine Marylou Elliott, a long-time resident of Colville, WA, passed away on March 8, 2023 in Colville, WA at the age of 91. Elaine was born on August 25, 1931 in Spokane, Washington to Orval and Ethel (Gilbert) Yarroll. She was the third child of six children; Kay, Bob, Gene, Glen, Roy.

Elaine moved often with her family as a young child as they followed work opportunities at lumber camps throughout Washington, Idaho and Oregon. She completed her education early and began working to help support her family. While they were residing in Ione, she caught a glimpse of James "Jack" W. Elliott and successfully sought his attention. They married on May 14, 1947 and began a family. Jack entered the U.S. Navy and served as a Seabee and over 20 years. Elaine had an amazing fortitude and would move her family great distances to Jack's duty stations whether in the states or overseas (including twice to Guam and once to the Midway Islands). During Jack's final duty assignment in Adak, Alaska, Elaine drove a military taxi to help support her family. She also assisted on the family farm and harvesting timber as they raised crops, livestock and logged. Eventually, she and Jack moved to a home in Colville. Elaine started the Pooch Parlor in Colville and operated it with her daughter Bonnie Trudell, for numerous years.

She had a passion to provide for her family and was active in their educational development serving on the Kettle Falls PTA. She also enjoyed traveling to Oregon with her children to several family reunions over the years. She was also known for the poodles and rotties they raised. Her favorite hobbies were painting and writing in which she had two of her books published. Elaine gathered her family around the dinner table with home cooked meals and open conversations. She was firm with her discipline and abundant with her hugs and love.

Elaine served as the president of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly).

Elaine was preceded in death by her parents, sister, three brothers and husband.

She is survived by one brother Glen, three children, Jody (Fritz) Hoffman, their children, Darin, Shelly & Amy; Bonnie (Bob) Trudell, their children, Chip & Holly; Wesley (Jannett) Elliott, their children Joshua, Malissa, David & Tonya; 23 great grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.

A memorial service for Mrs. Elaine Elliott will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, March 31, 2023, at The HUB senior center. Pastor Blayne McCoy will officiate.
