In Loving Memory Of Edith Elaine Vanslyke

Edie VanSlyke, Colville tribal elder of the Arrow Lakes Band, passed away peacefully in her home on November 16, 2024. She was surrounded by family, laughter, and love as she passed. Edie was born on January 25, 1947, in Nespelem, WA to her father, Albert "Froggy" Desautel, and her Mama who she loved dearly, Myrtle Peone. Edie was a woman full of life who loved to have fun. She was a smart businesswoman, a gardener, a great cook, a shark at the poker table, and a wonderful friend. More important to Edie than anything was her family. She is survived by her older brother William "Billy" Desautel. She was the youngest of 19 and was a devoted sister all her life.

She is survived by her husband Joe VanSlyke who has been her love and best friend since she was a teenager. This New Year's Eve will be their 60th wedding anniversary. She is also survived by her kids Brenda VanSlyke, Sandi Harris, and Scott Harris. Her unconditional love and support for her kids was unmatched. And She is survived by 5 granddaughters and 6 great-grandchildren.

She knew how to spoil her grandkids like no other and she made their childhoods unforgettable. Her family will continue her legacy by being full of joy, loving people well, and making life a great adventure.  A celebration of her life will be held in the Spring of 2025 and details will be announced at a later date.
