Edith Emily Haworth

Edith Emily Haworth, age 97, entered into rest April 24, 2024 in Colville, WA.  Edith was born October 4, 1926 in Auburn, WA to Ben and Ethel (Allen) Thompson.  She was the middle child of a family of 9 children.  The family moved from Auburn to Colville when Edith was in 1st grade.  Colville became her forever home.

Edith attended Colville schools through the 10th grade.  At that time, she was needed at home to help with the family and work on the family farm located on Tiger Highway.  In 1953 Edith married Eugene J. Haworth.  Together they would welcome two sons, Kenneth Eugene Haworth and Gary Lee Haworth, into their family.

Over the years, Edith would work in various places in the Colville area.  In 1971, they moved from the farm to town.  Edith always had a garden that provided food for her family.  She spent many hours canning the assortment of vegetables and fruits and put them to good use with the meals she prepared for her family.  Edith was an outstanding cook and baker.  When she wasn't gardening, canning, or cooking, Edith could be found stringing a worm on a line and waiting for a tug from her next catch.

Edith would return to the farm to care for her aging parents until their deaths.  In 2020, she would move to Buena Vista Nursing Facility.  Edith was loved by her many friends and the staff at Buena Vista Nursing Facility.

Edith is preceded in death by her parents and her son, Kenneth.

She is survived by her son, Gary Haworth, 5 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.  No services are planned at this time.
