Stovall Jr.
Jul 24, 1938 — Oct 20, 2022
Addy
Edgar Lee Stovall Jr., age 84, a resident of Addy, WA passed away on Oct. 20, 2022 in Gilbert, AZ. Edgar was born on July 24, 1938 in Phoenix, AZ the son of Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Stovall.
He moved often in his youth as his family followed the harvest opportunities from community to community. They traveled across the states of Arizona, Oregon and Washington. He was encouraged by his sister to join the U.S. Army and began a lifelong career. Once enlisted, Edgar took the opportunity to advance his education. He earned his GED, Associates Degree in Liberal Arts and Bachelor's Degree in Psychology, stopping only 9 credits short of his masters. As a young serviceman he was stationed in Berlin where he met Hannelore Kinner. Upon his return stateside, he requested she join him. She did and they exchanged vows on April 10, 1965 at the white chapel on the base of Ft. Lewis, WA. Edgar was deployed again to Germany where he and Hannelore welcome the birth of their son, Patrick in 1966. His duty stations included a return to Ft. Lewis, Germany and then to Ft. Knox where their daughter Patricia "Tricia" was born. The succession of duty stations continued with Ft. Lewis, Germany, Manhattan, KS, Las Vegas, NV, Alexandria, AL and Kent, WA from which he retired. When able to share time with his family, Edgar coached sports including T-ball and helped his son through the badges of Boy Scouts. They also shared in family camping adventures. In the mid-1990's they moved to a quieter pace of life. He settled into a lifestyle of working the property and soaking in the beautiful quiet reprieve of nature in Addy, WA.
Edgar loved his time with family and took every opportunity to be present with them while home. He was an avid reader and always enjoyed adventuring and relaxing outdoors.
Edgar was preceded in death by two sisters, Sharon and Nikki.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Hannelore Stovall, at the home; son, Patrick Stovall (Pam) of Lenexa, KS; daughter, Patricia "Tricia" Stovall of Portland, OR; grandchildren, Christopher and Ryan Stovall of Lenexa, KS; and sisters, Bette and Susan.
