Donavon Archie Lentz
Donavon Archie Lents, age 97, passed away at home surrounded by his loving family in Colville, WA on October 1, 2021. Donavon was born in Merrill, Wisconsin on January 1, 1924. At 10 years old, he and his two brothers, three sisters, and parents, Joe and Zuleika, moved to the Matanuska Valley, Palmer, AK to homestead.
In December 1942 Donavon joined the Navy. He served with honor as a gunner's mate in the South Pacific. Upon discharge in 1946, he returned home to the Alaska he loved. He continued homesteading, fished commercially and earned his Pilot's License.
In 1950, he met and married the real love of his life, Rose Lofts. They ran a small dairy and Kathie was born. The family moved to Arkansas where they had a farm, and Don worked at a Furniture Factory. Debbie was born, and then Don Jr. in Paris Ark.
In 1963 the family moved to Colville to join brother-in-laws "Dutch' and "Swede" Lofts. When Boise Cascade opened in Kettle Falls, Don went to work as a millwright where he stayed till retirement.
Together, he and Rose loved to spend time on the Columbia River in the houseboat. They were always there to lend a hand to anyone that needed it. Don enjoyed working in his wood shop, fabricating bird house feeders, Small log houses, and anything else someone might ask him could he do.
Donavon is survived by his loving wife, Rose Lentz of Colville; his Daughters, Kathie (Robin) Nelson and Debbie (Juan) Adams of Spokane; his son, Don Jr. (Cheryl) Lents of Colville; his Grandkids, Tom (Lori) Baun, Donovan, and Nicole (Cody) Heathman, all of Colville; his Great-grandkids, Tj, Trent, and Tyler Baun, Emory, Elaina and Rose Heathman, Bryson and Bodie Lents; his Sister, JoeAnne Vanover of Eggle River AK; his Brother, Joey Lentz of Palmer AK; his Sisters-in-laws, Nora Caroline and Juanita (Bob) Okla of Colville; and his many Nieces and Nephews.
