Donald Eugene
Hitchcock
Oct 2, 1941 — Feb 7, 2022
Kettle Falls
In Loving Memory
Donald "Don" Eugene Hitchcock
Donald Eugene Hitchcock, age 80, passed away with his loving son and daughter by his side at his home in Kettle Falls, Washington on February 2, 2022. Donald was born in Enid, Oklahoma to Lester and Mildred (Sheddy) Hitchcock on October 2, 1941.
Born in Enid and raised in Berryhill Oklahoma, Don would meet the love of his life, Linda Mason, before even graduating high school. Linda stayed with family in Berryhill for a year before returning home to Arkansas, and the entire time they were apart, he would send love letters and travel to visit her. On the day of her graduation, which he had travelled to Arkansas to attend, he would ask for her hand in marriage.
Linda relocated to Tulsa with Don, where they would be wed in 1961. Don enrolled in technical school to become a contract draftsman, taking his first job as a draftsman immediately upon graduating. The two would soon welcome a son, Eugene, followed ten years later by their daughter, Cheri. Donald and his family would spend the next years travelling for work, following it wherever it became available.
When he wasn't working, Donald had a great talent for singing karaoke, and he loved to sing whenever possible. He was also a skilled photographer, and while he mainly enjoyed the serenity of wildlife photography, he did enjoy a brief period of time photographing wedding celebrations. Don was also an avid bowler, car racing fan and movie fan. Don spent many hours making great memories with his three grandchildren.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Lester Maurice and Mildred Maxine Hitchcock; and his sister, Barbara Swinson.
He is survived by his loving wife of nearly 61 years, Linda Hitchcock; his children, Eugene Hitchcock and Cheri Durbin; his grandchildren, Caitlyn Casey, Curtis Durbin, and Larry Hitchcock; and his brothers, Clement and Gregory Hitchcock, all of whom will miss him greatly.
In celebration of his life, Don requested that family and friends take time out for a fun karaoke night and think of him. For any donations, please direct them to your local school booster program or church choir to share his love of music with others. Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com. Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
