Diane M
Christian
May 1, 1946 — Mar 14, 2023
Colville
Diane M. Christian, age 76, a longtime resident of Colville, WA passed away on March 14, 2023 at her Colville home. She was born on May 1, 1946 in Colville, WA the daughter of Dee and Lois Marie (Garner) Terry.
Diane was raised in Colville where she attended school. While in high school, Diane worked in the evening and on weekends for the A&W restaurant and then Walden Insurance. She graduated from Colville High School in 1964 and then worked at the school as a secretary for over a year. It was shortly after graduating that she married Glenn Christian on Aug. 22, 1964. Following the birth of their first child, Will, they moved Western Washington. They resided in the SeaTac area for a time and then moved to South Seattle where Diane worked in the home raising her family and babysitting to help support the family. Diane and Glenn's family grew with the birth of their son, James in 1969. In 1982, Glenn's rapid decline in health due to early on-set Alzheimer's required they move back to Colville where Diane had the support of family. This was the beginning of a long road of caregiving that Diane would offer in love of her family. Glenn's diagnosis and eventual passing foretold of struggle and loss that Diane would experience twice again. Both her son's, Will and Jim suffered the same debilitating disease of early on-set Alzheimer's. Diane cared for her boys faithfully, walked along-side them in their struggles, provided support, attentive care and laid them to rest when each of their journey's was complete.
Diane will always be remembered by the depth and breadth of friendships and family relationships she developed over the years. She could always be counted on to know the happenings of the town and to spread her infectious laughter wherever she went. She took time daily to read the Seattle Times and work their crossword puzzles. She had a loyalty that complimented her close friendships and lasted a lifetime. Diane's strength of character was never in question, nor the devotion she offered through thick and thin. Her laughter was honest and gave reason to pause and share in her joy.
Diane was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn in 1989, her sons, Will in 2012 and Jim in 2013 and one brother, Dan Terry in 2009.
She is survived by her two sisters, Dea Terry and Candice Bergquist , two brothers, Dee Terry and Dale Terry and a host of nieces, nephews and close friends.
A time of gathering and visitation by friends and family was held at the Danekas Funeral Chapel in Colville, WA. Diane will be laid to rest with her husband and sons at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA. Memorial contributions may be given to the Colville Valley Animal Sanctuary.
