Obituary

Denny Sjordal was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who passed away on March 11, 2025. He leaves behind a legacy of love, dedication, and adventure.

Denny was born and raised in Cut Bank, Montana, before moving to Chico, California, where he graduated from Chico High School in 1962. A talented athlete, he excelled in both basketball and baseball, setting a record at Chico State with an incredible 43-point basketball game—long before the three-point line existed. It was at Chico State that he met the love of his life, Emily. They married on June 1, 1963, in Orland, California, and shared 62 wonderful years together.

Denny built a lifelong career with PG&E, starting at just 20 years old in the warehouse before working his way up through the gas and electric departments. He became an electric foreman in Lakeport, CA, and later, an electric superintendent in Eureka, eventually overseeing both the gas and electric departments. His innovative ideas earned several achievement awards for cost-saving solutions at PG&E. After a dedicated career, he retired as a gas and electric superintendent.

In 2004, Denny and Emily moved to Colville, WA, where he found immense joy in watching his grandchildren grow and thrive. One of his greatest joys was traveling to watch his granddaughter, Emilee, play softball at Linfield College, culminating in a trip to Roanoke, Virginia, to see her team win the National Championship in 2011. He also had a deep love for nature, especially birdwatching and feeding the many species that visited their home.

Denny had a passion for the outdoors and adventure. As a young father, he spent summers with his family on their commercial fishing boat, making memories fishing, crabbing, and salmon fishing out of Humboldt Bay. He also loved hunting, taking several out-of-state trips, and even teaching Emily how to hunt—a skill she proved by successfully taking down several deer and even a bear! His love for mechanics and adventure led him to build a dune buggy, which continues to bring joy to his family.

Above all, Denny was most proud of his family. He cherished watching his grandchildren grow, find their life partners, and start families of their own. He was a devoted husband, father, and grandfather to six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren. His love, wisdom, and adventurous spirit will live on in all who knew him.
