In Loving Memory

Dennis Duane Braun

Dennis Duane Braun, age 82, passed away Tuesday, August 23, 2022, at home surrounded by his family.

Dennis was born July 21, 1940 in Bismarck, North Dakota to Bertha and Walter Braun.  The family eventually moved to Spokane, WA where Dennis attended high school at Central Valley.  After high school, he enlisted in the Army and was eventually stationed at Fort Lewis.  While on a double date in Colville, Dennis caught the eye of Patty Gallaher, who was on a date with someone else.  He later saw her playing basketball, and subsequently asked her on a date.  They were married October 27, 1962 in Colville, WA.  Three sons followed; Rod, Ryan, and Troy.  This year would have been there 60 th Anniversary.

Dennis enjoyed snowmobiling, stock car racing, motorcycles, boating and camping.  He even participated in the demolition derby.  Many great memories were created at Dennis and Patty's property near Ione, WA.  Dennis and Ken Hirsch, his brother-in-law, perfected the one-pan breakfast, which has become a lasting tradition on holiday weekends.

Dennis served on the Colville Fire Department for 30 years as well as time on the City Council.  He also bowled and helped coach little league baseball.  His early career was working at Empire Auto Parts in Colville.  He finished his career with 13 years at Oxarc.

Dennis loved his family and would swell with emotion whenever one of his 11 grandchildren walked in the room.  He is preceded in death by his brother, Bill Braun, and parents, Bertha and Walter.  He is survived by his wife, Patty; three sons, Rod (Sharron) Braun, Ryan (Sandi) Braun, Troy (Heidi) Braun; 11 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

Services for Mr. Dennis Braun will take place on September 24, 10:30am at the First Congregational United Church of Christ located at 205 N. Maple St. Colville, WA with a luncheon to follow.  Rev. Jim CastroLang will be officiating.
