Delbert William Field

November 28, 1934 – August 10, 2022

Delbert passed away after living a full great life at the age of 87. Delbert was born in Molson, Washington to Vesta and Howard Field. The family moved to Valley Washington in 1939 to begin the family farm. While in school he enjoyed playing football and boxing then graduated from Valley High School in 1953. He then attended Spokane Community Collage where received his degree in Diesel Mechanics and Business courses. He then worked at Dawn Mining Company in Wellpenit before enlisting in the Navy in 1956 where his duties on the U.S.S. Osborne DD846 ship was a Fire Control Technician during the Korean War. While in the Navy he was able to travel to many different countries. After the Navy Delbert purchased the family dairy farm in Valley Washington and then purchased the Olsen Farm down the road a few miles and continued dairy farming where he shipped milk to Carnation in Spokane. Delbert married Ella Espe in 1982 and they continued to dairy farm until they sold the equipment 1998 and sold the farm in 2017. Delbert and Ella traveled all over the United States and the world during their time together. Delbert loved to horseback and pack mules to hunt elk and deer at home and in Idaho and Montana and was very successful with his hunts. He also loved to fish and was fortunate enough to get to fish in Alaska, Canada with Marvin and in South America. In the wintertime Delbert and Ella loved to snow skiing at 49* North. He helped organize and build the Valley Fire Department and served as the Commissioner in District 4 in the seventy's and eighty's. He was also a longtime supporter of the Boy Scout Troop # 989 in Valley where he went on many of their summer camping trips and packed in supplies for them. He also was a supporter and member of the Valley Fair, Delbert and Ella and Jackie Franks were the Parade Grand Marshals in August 2021. He was also a member of the Valley Grange and the Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation. Delbert was preceded in death by his Mother and Father, Vesta and Howard Field, Brothers Bryce, and Eugene Field. He leaves behind his wife Ella Field, Stepdaughter Laura Espe, Stepson Lorry Espe, Step Grandson, two Step Grandchildren and one Step Great Grandchild. His sisters, Elaine Fauconnier, Orville, Washington, Ellen Van Vliet, Murrieta, California, Grace Johnson, Holly, Colorado, Brother, Michael (Donna), Loon Lake, Washington Numerous Nieces and Nephews.

Very special thank you to family and friends for their help and loving care for Delbert the past year. Special thank-you to Hospice of Spokane for their care and help for Delbert the past few weeks. Thank You to Danaekas Funeral Chapel for helping with the service arrangements.

Celebration of Life for Delbert William Field will be held Friday, August 26, 2022, at 11:00 am at the Saint Joseph's Catholic Cemetery, 3101 Church Road – Valley, Washington. Luncheon to follow at the Valley Grange Hall, 3091 Waitts Lake Road, Valley, Washington
