David Wayne "Dave" Watterson
David Wayne Watterson passed away unexpectedly on April 8, 2023 at the hospital in Chewelah, Washington. David was only 65 years old. His family is deeply saddened by his sudden death. David was a deeply devoted Christian and it comforts his family to know he is at rest with our Lord and Savior.
David was born on October 1, 1957 in Seattle, Washington to Jake and Mary Watterson. Followed by his brother Eric, and sister Susan. David attended school in Moses Lake, graduating in 1976 from Moses Lake High School. David's high school activities included Drama club where he performed in many high school plays. He also played the trumpet in the Moses Lake High School band. During high school he was a member of the Immanuel Lutheran church where he was an active member of the youth group. He also attended college and graduated from LBI (Lutheran Bible Institute) in Issaquah, Washington. David was married at the time of his death to the love of his life, Sunni whom he met in Anacortes, Washington.
David spent several years employed at Simmons Glass in Anacortes, Washington. After retiring from the glass company he returned to Moses Lake and worked for a time at Skaug Brothers Glass finally retiring for good and moving with Sunni to Chewelah to begin enjoying his life in a new home on the golf course where he could admire the wildlife around him.
David loved nature and being outdoors. He was a gentle soul, kind and loving. He had a dry sense of humor which kept his friends and family entertained. He was a friend to all people he met and would help anyone in need. He will truly be missed.
David was preceded in death by his grandparents, Ben and Evelyn Zickler and Russell and Frank Nimez.
He is survived by his wife, Sunni, his two stepdaughters, Cassandra and Madeline. His parents, Jake and Mary Watterson, brother Eric, sister Susan (John Hohman), nephew Mitchell (Jazelda, great niece Noa Hohman), niece Abbey Hohman and several other uncles, aunts, cousins, and close friends.
A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, 1020 South A Street in Moses Lake in May.
