In Loving Memory

David Michael Toner

David Michael Toner passed away February 3, 2024 in Marcus, Washington. He was born April 25, 1940 in Walla Walla, Washington to the late Ward and Margaret "McClenahan" Toner.

David moved several places between 1942 and 1946, ending with Grandparents Florence and Daniel Kimble. In 1946 David, Roberta, and Danny joined their mother Margaret, stepfather Frank Haydock and new brother Kenneth, and grew up in Seattle.  In time a sister, Linda Haydock, and brother, Ward (Rocky) Toner were born.  Over the course of his life, David would live in Canada, Oregon, Minnesota and Montana. Living off grid in Canada which was profound to the kids. David was in the Army in the late 50's and early 60's serving overseas in Germany during the start of the Cold War. He traveled to some interesting places while working including Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. The most memorable period was living in the northern territories. Living off the land and crazy encounters with bears, cougars and other creatures. David had a horse named Moose that he loved dearly.

David was such an amazing and unique character. From his love of breaking out in a song out of nowhere, to his off the wall sense of humor. Every time the words "I care" or "sneaky snake" are heard, his love for Tom T Hall will be remembered. He enjoyed watching Jeopardy and challenging those that watched it with him. David will be remembered by his children as the best dad anyone could ask for and a great best friend.

David was predeceased by his parents and two brothers, Daniel Toner and Ward (Rocky) Toner, and he was proceeded in death shortly after by his brother, Kenny.

David is survived by his significant other of 35 years, Jackie Nelson, his daughters, Becky Goforth, Laura Hood, and Rossalyn Demmer; son, Ward Toner; grandchildren, Steven, Christina, Jamie, Mackenzie, Cassandra, Andy, Tyler, Zachary, and Joe, 14 great grandchildren; as well as his sisters, Roberta and Linda.
