Darrell Allen
Winslow
Mar 10, 1936 — Sep 10, 2021
Colville
Darrell Allen Winslow, age 85, a 39-year resident of Colville, WA passed away on September 10, 2021 in Colville, WA. Darrell was born on March 10, 1936 in Salem, OR the son of Arthur William and Lilli Bertha (Tabor) Winslow.
He spent most of his youth on a farm near the small village of Jefferson, OR where he attended school. Following high school, Darrell, entered the U.S. Army and served overseas in South Korea. He returned Spokane, WA after his honorable discharge where he began working for the 7-Up distributorship. He also resided for a short time with family in the Los Angeles, CA area. Eventually Darrell rejoined the U.S. Armed Services, this time as an electronics and radar technician in the U.S. Air Force. His tours of duty were spent maintaining airborne radar systems in the skies over Vietnam. After 10 years in the Air Force and a second honorable discharge, Darrell, again returned to the Spokane area. He continued educational courses in the electronics trade and co-owned an electrical contracting company in Spokane. On March 14, 1981, Darrell married Linda L. Johnson, and they joined families. They relocated to Colville in 1982 where Darrell began Winslow Electric. He worked as an electrical contractor on countless jobsites throughout the greater Colville area and surrounding communities. In 2014, Darrell hung up his wire-strippers and retired. Not long after retirement, he began an extended battle against Parkinson's and dementia.
Darrell was a man with a never-ending project list. He worked long hours and then when home, would enlist his kids in helping to build garage ports, house additions, houses, shops and a multitude of varied structures in between. Though usually busy, he always found some time to take the family waterskiing, snow-skiing, or snowmobiling. In his youth, Darrell loved to roller skate and ice skate which led to a passion for rollerblading in his 60's, especially with his grandchildren. While in the military service, he spent many hours on the golf courses near base, and he could also make a Frisbee soar. He enjoyed RVing, boating, dirt biking, and making his Harley soar down the road.
As life granted him wisdom, he grew daily in love and a light-hearted approach with a clever sense of humor. He had a peanut cluster style sweet tooth that ensured his work van was usually well-equipped with "sweet essentials" under the seat. His nature was gentle, his faith educated and nurtured and his actions dedicated to serving through God's goodness.
Darrrell was preceded in death by his sister Marilyn Bullock and a brother, Rod Winslow.
He is survived by his children, Crystal Perez of Fresno, CA, Brenda Liggett (Dave) of Spokane Valley, WA, John Winslow (Allison) of Colville, WA; step-children, Sue Hintz (George) of Spokane Valley, WA, Jim Moseanko (BethAnn) of Green Acres, WA, Randy Moseanko (Julia) of Colville, WA; 17 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; siblings, Ciri Achord, Gay Leinweber, LeNora Starr, Gerald Winslow, and Steve Winslow; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and a host of friends.
