In Loving Memory

Connie Jo Anderson

Connie Jo Anderson, a lifelong Stevens County resident, passed away at her Evans home on November 19, 2022 at the age of 72.  Connie was born on October 28, 1950 to Walter and Peggy (Martin) Gunter in Chewelah, WA.

From an extremely young age, Connie had a love for singing.  Before she had even began attending Chewelah Elementary School, she had already recorded two records, one at the age of two, and another at 4.  Connie's family would later relocate to Colville for a short time before settling in Kettle Falls, where she would graduate from high school.

Connie devoted much of her younger years to music, she formed a band, Heart of Gold, acting as the lead singer and as a guitarist.  Connie serenaded crowds with her beautiful voice and carried the rhythm at many shows throughout the Tri-County Area.  Heart of Gold was even the opener for several larger bands in the Spokane area at concerts.  It was at one of these shows that she would meet the love of her life, Gerald "Jerry" Anderson.  As soon as he heard her angelic voice, he knew that was the woman he would marry.  The two would quickly fall in love, and were wed in 1993.  Connie would continue her singing career until breathing problems that developed later in life caused her to retire.

In her free time, Connie had many hobbies that she enjoyed both by herself, as well as with her husband, Jerry.  The couple were members of the Fraternal order of the Eagles in Colville for many years, and Connie spent many afternoons playing bingo, spending time with friends and other members, and singing when she was still able to.  Connie was also a longstanding member of the Kettle Falls American Legion, spending many hours in her younger years doing volunteer work in Kettle Falls.  Connie also loved her family, speaking to her mom on the phone almost every day until her passing in 2012.  Everyone that was blessed to know her remembers her as a very patient, kind, and gentle spirit with an amazing sense of humor that they all miss dearly.

Connie was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Peggy Gunter; as well as her beloved four-legged companion, the long dog named Frank.

She is survived by her loving husband of 29 years, Gerald "Jerry" Anderson of Evans; her siblings, Dan Bentley of Marcus, WA; Lynda Dexter and her husband, Ken, of Electric City, WA; and Bobbi Gunter of Rice, WA, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins, all of whom will miss her kind and gentle spirit.

A celebration of Connie's life is being planned for the spring of 2023, and will be announced at a later date.  Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com.  Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted in care.
