In Loving Memory

Colleen Ann Lewin

Colleen Ann Lewin, age 89, passed away in the early hours of May 3, 2022 in Spokane, Washington.  Colleen was born on February 18, 1933 in Villiska, Iowa, to Robert and Gladys (Gourley) Brown.

At a young age, Colleen would meet the love of her life, Gene Lewin, and the two would be wed in Louisiana, where he was stationed in the military, in 1950.  After relocating to the pacific northwest, Colleen and Gene would live in Vale, Oregon, for a short time, and move around south Idaho for several years before the two would settle in Donnelly, Idaho in 1955, where they would raise their three children, Teri, Toni, and Vic, and Gene would work for Union Pacific.  1965 saw Gene called to the ministry, and while Gene worked as a minister, Colleen happily continued her role of homemaker.

Colleen was quietly involved with the Donnelly Bible Church, attending thousands of bible studies, church meetings, and conferences, sometimes accompanying her husband as they faithfully served the Lord together.  She also enjoyed sewing a variety of items, and tending to her flower and vegetable gardens, along with cooking and studying her bible.  Colleen also had a passion for repurposing second hand items from thrift stores.

In 1974, Colleen and Gene would relocate to Inchelium, where they would both become members of the Inchelium Community Bible Church, continuing to attend studies, as well as assisting behind the scenes with church camps and other community events in various capacities whenever they were home from Gene's travelling preaching.  Following Gene's passing on June 10, 2012, their son, Vic, would spend just over seven years living at the ranch with Colleen, helping take care of her and the land.  Following Colleen's subsequent decline in health, she would move in with her daughter, Teri, who, as a retired RN, was able to provide a level of care to allow her to continue living at home and attending church services with the Kettle Falls Community Church.

Colleen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Gladys; her loving husband of 62 years, Gene; her daughter, Toni Lewin Morgan; and her siblings, Maxine Woodworth and Richard Brown.  She is survived by her daughter, Teri Taylor; her son, Vic Lewin; 5 grandchildren; and 9 great-grandchildren.

A celebration of Colleen's life will be held at the Kettle Falls Community Church on Saturday, July 9 th , beginning at 1:00 p.m.  Please visit the on-line memorial and sign the guestbook at www.danekasfuneralchapel.com .  Danekas Funeral Chapel is entrusted in care.
