CHARLES EDWIN FRYATT

Charles Edwin Fryatt, better known as Brownie, was the son of Edwin Fay and Thelma Louise (Cox) Fryatt. He was born on June 18, 1938 in Yorba Linda, California. On August 31, 2021, he went home to rest in the arms of our Lord and Savior.

He met his sweetheart, Joyce Ann Hunker, the summer before attending Fullerton Union High. On Feb. 21, 1958, they started their lifelong journey of over 63 years together and shortly thereafter began their family. After visiting family in Summit Valley, Joyce felt strongly from the Lord that this was the place they were supposed to continue raising their family. So Brownie stepped out in faith, leaving behind the security of family and employment in California. In July of 1965, they packed up their four children, two bulldogs and caravanned north to move into a small log cabin in Summit Valley.

Brownie worked at various farms, dairies, and sawmills.  Not long after having their fifth child, God blessed them with the opportunity to purchase the neighboring Bowe Homestead in May of 1970. He farmed his own property as well as working long hours milking cows at the neighboring dairy farm of Herm Pein. In 1975, he started working at Northwest Alloys in Addy WA until his retirement in December of 1998.  In his early retirement years, he followed his passion of operating heavy equipment, and also fulfilled a life-long dream of purchasing a Harley Davidson to enjoy with family and friends.

His greatest passion was serving the Lord and witnessing to others.  He served on his Church board and was always ready to share God's word of Salvation and encouragement.  Brownie had a love of sports which he shared with his family both as a participant and spectator.

His greatest pride and joy was his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Brownie cherished his family traditions such as tacos and homemade ice cream after Church on Sundays, gathering together on holidays and birthdays, & showing off his mad ping-pong skills. You could tell by the twinkle in his eye if he was up to one of his famous pranks.

Brownie & Joyces' hospitality was endless and they had an open door for all.  He deeply cherished his friendships in the Summit Valley Community. His grandchildren and great grandchildren will miss his warm and welcoming hugs and endless wisdom and support.

Brownie is preceded in death by his brother David Fryatt.  He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Joyce, 5 children, Denise Clowser (Steve) of Colville, WA, Rick Fryatt (Cindra) of Selah, WA, Heidi Green (Robert) of Addy, WA, Michelle Colt (Dan) of Battle Ground, WA, Kimberley Zwarg (Steve) of Deer Park, WA; one sister, Shirley Pantoja of Yucca Valley, CA; 25 grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren and an extended host of family and friends.

Brownie worked hard, lived hard, and loved hard. Even though he will be greatly missed, he leaves behind a legacy of love and faith to all those who knew him.
