Carol Marie
Magnuson
Jul 2, 1958 — Mar 3, 2026
Colville
Carol Marie Magnuson, age 66, a resident of Colville, WA passed away on March 3, 2026 at Colville Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia in Colville. Carol was born on July 2, 1958 in Corpus Christi, TX the daughter of Capt. John D. Williams and Pamela Faye (Fowler) and later adopted by Richard Magnuson .
Carol's childhood was one of constant motion as the family followed Navy service assignments of her Navy pilot father. Moving over 34 times in her childhood, Carol attended school in the Philippines, Thailand, Georgia, Texas, Colorado and the Bay Area of California. In 1976, she graduated High School in Hillsborough, CA and then continued on to school at the University of California in San Jose, CA. Carol earned her bachelor's degree in journalism and then entered the U.S. Army on June 24, 1980. She served as a cryptographer in Army intelligence until she was diagnosed with pituitary cancer. Following the repercussions of multiple brain surgeries and early chemotherapy and radiation treatments, her health required she take a medical discharge from the military on December 7, 1982. Carol then returned to California where she worked a variety of jobs. She relocated to Sheridan, OR and assisted on the family berry farm where she could remain in close proximity to her parents. Her gradual decline in health eventually led to her care in an adult nursing facility. Following the passing of her parents, Carol moved to Colville, WA to be near her sister, Amy. She has remained in the care of Colville Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia since April of 2023.
Carol had a heart that was eager to please and guided by an obligation to serve others. She was a gifted artist with a flare for graphic design and simple "IMA" art which was inspired by the motion of purpose and what "Ima gonna do..." Her favorite animal was the mouse, a creature who was small, simple and quiet, to which she well related. Carol enjoyed volunteering at the local Blues Festivals with her sister, Amy. She will be fondly remembered for her costuming in the Portland area where she was well known for her caricature of "Hagatha." Carol loved spending time with her nephews and grand-nephews. Her kind soul is cherished and will always be remembered.
Carol is survived by her sister, Amy Haggart of Malo, WA and her nephews; Justin Haggart and his wife, Britney and Jesse Haggart and his wife, Kelsey all of Vancouver, WA.
Carol's family will gather privately in her memory as she is worthy reflection and celebration.
Memorial contributions may be given to Colville Health and Rehabilitation of Cascadia for patient Resources and Activities.
Danekas Funeral Chapel and Crematory is entrusted with the arrangements.
