Carmen Lucille Gleave
Carmen Lucille Gleave, age 85, a longtime resident of the Colville, WA area, passed away on June 29, 2022 in Colville. Carmen was born on February 8, 1937 in Mesa, AZ the daughter of Loren and Alma (Knight) Turner.
Carmen's early years were shared with her family in numerous communities between Oklahoma and California as her family traveled back and forth every year following harvest work opportunities. Carmen married Richard Gleave in July of 1956 in Lodi, CA and together they raised six children. She worked in the home, caring for her large and growing family. She also worked outside the home to help their needs. Carmen often worked in local restaurant and diner's through the years. They moved to Washington State in the 1960's and eventually settled in Colville after having spent some time in Longview. While in Colville, Carmen continued her work in food service, first as a waitress for, Smiths Diner, Newland's Café and King Cole's restaurant and in the later years as a cook for Buena Vista Nursing Home and Pinewood Terrace Nursing Home. A slow decline in her health led to retirement in the early 2000's. She and Richard moved into Buena Vista Nursing Home in 2019 and have resided together there since that time.
Carmen was a mom who was always there for her family. Her life focused on their needs and she cared for them with tireless love. She enjoyed family outings, gatherings and get-togethers. She was supportive with a positive outlook and loving encouragement. Carmen was quite in character and demeanor and always made sure things were taken care of in the background.
She was a member longtime member of the Arden Home-Ec Club.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Patsy Hamilton
Carmen is survived by her husband of 66 years, Richard Gleave of Colville, WA; six children, Burl Gleave (Amy) of Federal Way, WA, Loren Hamilton (Teresa) of Paonia, CO, Kathy Armstrong (Roy) of Ellensburg, WA, Richard Gleave Jr., (Tina) of Colville, WA, Carl Gleave (BobbieLee) of Colville, WA, Gerald "Jerry" Gleave (Vickie), of Colville, WA; one sister, Jerri Church of Woodbridge, CA; 15 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren; several nieces, nephews and a host of extended family.
A graveside service and urn interment will begin at 11:00 a.m., Friday, July 8, 2022, at the Mountain View Park Cemetery in Colville, WA with Pastor Shane Moffitt officiating.
