Life Legacy
Enes Catherine Anderson, age 89, passed away in Spokane, Washington on June 18, 2012. She was born the daughter of John and Thelma (Morfit) Davis on January 6, 1923 in Salt Lake City, Utah. During her childhood years, she lived in Utah, Idaho, and Oregon. During the Great Depression the family moved where ever there was work. In 1936, the family moved to the Bruce Creek, WA area where she finished grade school and attended Marcus High School. After graduating from high school, Enes attended Beauty College in Boise, Idaho.
In 1939, Enes married Floyd Bible; he was killed in the Army in Okinawa. She later married Ernie Anderson in 1945. Together they re-opened the Barstow store, where they spent the next ten years raising their family. Enes worked in the store, and was very involved in the community. She helped out tremendously at the Kettle River Grange by organizing plays, band fundraisers, and played in the band as well. Enes also helped with the remodeling of the Kettle River Grange, and was a member of the Kettle River Grange for many years. In 1956, the family moved to Kelly Hill, where the family began ranching. They lived in two different homes on the ranch at Kelly Hill.
Enes was known for her beautiful manicured yard, people would come from near and far to see them. When she was not working in her yard, she enjoyed China painting. and crocheting afghans. Enes and Ernie joined the bowling team together and enjoyed the game with many friends. They also went on many fishing trips together, canning the fish they caught.
In 1995, Ernie and Enes moved to the Kettle River. She was a wonderful homemaker. The most enjoyment in her life was her grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Enes was preceded in death by her parents, sons Gary and Bernie, granddaughter Colleen, brother John and sisters Darcus and Marjorie.
She is survived by her husband Ernie, daughter Janice LaGasse, grandchildren Gary Hanley, Eric Anderson, Hope Anderson, Chris Salo; great grandchildren Brandon Alla, Justin McComb, Sarah Hanley, McKenzie, Kiernan, and Everly Anderson; sister Teddy Fredrickson; brother Hal Davis, and numerous nieces and nephews. A funeral service for Enes will be held at 11:00 on Friday, June 22, 2012 at the Kettle River Grange Hall in Barstow, WA with a potluck to follow. Graveside services will follow the potluck at Highland Cemetery in Colville, WA.
